We’re always grateful for individual volunteers who help make Family House a safe, comfortable, and caring place for families.
We welcome individuals of all ages, including high school students and Service Learning students from USF, City College, and other Bay Area schools. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least three months of regular shifts in the house or office. Opportunities include helping with meals, providing office support, or sharing a special talent — like therapy dog visits, entertainment, yoga, massage therapy, and more.

If you are a high school student looking for a summer volunteer opportunity, the Family House Summer Program might be a perfect match for you.

Join our Young Professionals group and meet new people, connect at our social fundraising events, and make a difference for the families at Family House.

Volunteer Leaders are ambassadors for Family House. Together with Family House staff, Volunteer Leaders manage every aspect of volunteer supported activities. This includes Project Management and follow-up with our volunteer groups, and more.

Make a difference for the families staying with us by collecting items that will make their time in San Francisco better, including pantry food items, gift cards, or toys. Throughout the calendar year we have special event requests through our Amazon Wishlist, such as Mother’s Day Gifts, Back-to-School supplies, Winter Wonderland decor items. We would love for you to get involved!
